Famous Quotes about dreams

Yvonne Pierre quote #134 from The Day My Soul Cried: A Memoir

If your boss asks you to do a task... Youll stay late for work to make sure its done. Youll be confident that your boss wouldnt have asked you if heshe didnt trust that you could do it. You wouldnt allow anyone or anything to distract you. No matter how hard it is its not an option youll find a way to make it happen. Youll not only find time youll try to get it done before the deadline. So why when God gives you a task... you allow fear to consume you find excuses allow distractions care about what people think and assume its impossible If He gave it to you He trusts you CAN get it done. Yes theyll be distractions. And no its not going to be easy but know that it is POSSIBLE Answer the call

Bruno Schulz quote #43 from The Street of Crocodiles

Groping blindly in the darkness he sank between the white mounds of cool feathers and slept as he fell across the bed or with his head downward pushing deep into the softness of the pillows as if in sleep he wanted to drill through to explore completely that powerful massif of feather bedding rising out of the night.

Frederick Douglass quote #124 from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

You are loosed from your moorings and are free I am fast in my chains and M a slave You move merrily before the gentle gale and I sadly before the bloody whip You are freedoms swift winged angels that fly around the world I am confined in the bands of iron O that I were free O that if I were on one of your gallant decks under your protecting wing Alas Betwixt me and you the turbid waters roll. Go on go on. O that I could also go Could I but swim If I could fly O why was I born a man of whom to make a brute The glad ship is gone she hides in the dim distance. I am left in the hottest hell of unending slavery. O God save me God deliver me Let me be free Is there any God Why am I a slave I will run away. I will not stand. Get caught or clear Ill try it. I had as well die with ague as the fever. I have only one life to lose. I had as well be killed running as die standing. Only think of it 100 miles straight north and I am free Try it Yes God is helping me I will. It cannot be that I shall live and die a slave. I will take to the water. This is very bay shall yet bear me into freedom. The steamboats steered in the Northeast course from Northpoint. I will do the same and when I get to the head of the bay I will turn my canoe adrift and walked straight through Delaware into Pennsylvania. When I get there I shall not be required to have a pass I can travel without being disturbed. Let but the first opportunity offer and come what will I am off. Meanwhile I will try to bear up under the yoke. I am not the only slave in the world. Why should I be free I can bear as much as any of them. Besides I am but a boy and all boys are bound to some one. It may be that my misery and slavery will only increase the happiness when I get free there is a better day coming. 62 63

Orson Scott Card quote #78 from Xenocide

Earthborn animals do this thing inside their brainsa sort of firing-off of synapses controlled insanity. While theyre asleep. The part of their brain that records sight or sound its firing off every hour or two while they sleep even when all the sights and sounds are complete random nonsense their brains just keep on trying to assemble it into something sensible. They try to make stories out of it. Its complete random nonsense with no possible correlation to the real world and yet they turn it into these crazy stories. And then they forget them. All that work coming up with these stories and when they wake up they forget almost all of them. But when they do remember then they try to make stories about those crazy stories trying to fit them into their real lives. They change what their stories mean. They transform things so that the same memory can mean a thousand different things. Even from their dreams sometimes they make up out of that randomness something that illuminates everything. Even if the vast majority of them are wrong even if ninety-nine of every hundred is stupid and wrong out of those thousands of ideas that still leaves them with a hundred good ones. Thats how they make up for being so stupid and having such short lives and small memories.
