V-Dayif you need this one day in a year to show everyone else you truly care for your loved one I think its quite stupid. I hate this commercialism. Its all artificial and has nothing to do with real love.

Everything with me is either worship and passion or pity and understanding. I hate rarely though when I hate I hate murderously. For example now I hate the bank and everything connected with it. I also hate Dutch paintings penis-sucking parties and cold rainy weather. But I am much more preoccupied with loving.

You cant turn love on and off like a light switch no matter how hard you try. All you can do is wall it off one brick at a time until youve created an impenetrable fortress around your emotions. And once that fortress is built you camouflage it so well that even you cant see it anymore.

When two people meet and fall in love theres a sudden rush of magic. Magic is just naturally present then. We tend to feed on that gratuitous magic without striving to make any more. One day we wake up and find that the magic is gone. We hustle to get it back but by then its usually too late weve used it up. What we have to do is work like hell at making additional magic right from the start. Its hard work but if we can remember to do it we greatly improve our chances of making love stay.

He wasnt the type for displays of affection either verbal or not. He was disgusted by couples that made out in the hallways between classes and got annoyed at even the slightest sappy moments in movies. But I knew he cared about me he just conveyed it more subtly as concise with expressing this emotion as he was with everything else. It was in the way hed put his hand on the small of my back for instance or how hed smile at me when I said something that surprised him. Once I might have wanted more but Id come around to his way of thinking in the time wed been together. And we were together all the time. So he didnt have to prove how he felt about me. Like so much else I should just know.

Nobody sees anybody truly but all through the flaws of their own egos. That is the way we all see ...each other in life. Vanity fear desire competition-- all such distortions within our own egos-- condition our vision of those in relation to us. Add to those distortions to our own egos the corresponding distortions in the egos of others and you see how cloudy the glass must become through which we look at each other. Thats how it is in all living relationships except when there is that rare case of two people who love intensely enough to burn through all those layers of opacity and see each others naked hearts.
